The days melt together in a haze of delusion,
a maze of confusion and doubt.
I’m fat and i’m lazy and going half-crazy,
hanging out here in this house.
My state of mind, well, it’s worrisome,

I’m halfway pretending to be halfway forgetting
who’s to blame for all the trouble I’ve had.
Been creeping around in the small hours,
hiding things from myself.
Drinking too much, sleeping too little,
taking damn fine care of myself.
My friends are all scoundrels and burnouts,
punk trash of the lowliest kind.
If i could only break free,

and it’d sure be a load off my mind.
Cuz happiness ain’t so easy.
Life is misery.
Get it while you can,
try to stick to the plan.
Nobody rides for free.
Been creeping around in the small hours,
since tomorrow is the same as today.
I’ll peel my eyes open,
strum chords on the porch,
find another sad song to play.
My friends are all drinking on the dole now,
passing time and just trying to get by.
